Lynn, I see homesteads like these from time to time myself, though not always in as good a condition as the one above. And the question that inevitably I find myself asking is the same as yours: what happened to the family and why did they leave?
They definitely make for beautiful, if haunting, images.
I find it extra interesting when the land around the abandoned farm is still in production. Heirs still own the property but have long since moved away? This home must have been a beauty in its day.
