Random acts

May 20, 2009

I thought I was really ahead of the game, postage-wise. I was aware of the rate increase and even bought the two-cent add-on stamps weeks ahead of time. Unfortunately, I forgot about all this, just as the rate went into affect. I’ve been merrily (well, “merrily” might be an overstatement) paying bills and stamping away with the old 42-cent stamps. Today, I gathered the mail and noticed our mailman, Mike, had left 10 two-cent stamps.  No bill, no curt note. Just a gentle reminder. Kind of like when the postmaster calls to let us know our chicks have arrived, to make sure we’ll be home when Mike delivers them. Random acts of kindness or old-fashioned courtesy? It’s nice, whatever the moniker.
